You're in danger of becoming mildly agreeable, even if it qualifies as a disingenuous ruse. What I did hear is they are after buying planks.ie from the latest owner. Hence the rule changes, lifting bans, access to the soccer forum open to everyone. Bleasty to be demoted as well is the rumour. Talks of Overheal and AndrewJRenko becoming admins if they accept. Firing the one full time staff member and moving it overseas.

Beyond your primitive grasp, sadly. We have been here before, on numerous occasions. I had the temerity to throw you a bone, courtesy of understanding that you are profoundly limited in debate. There is no shame in admitting your inability to discuss matters at hand without resorting to ad hominem attacks, alas you consistently plough the depths of infantile bitterness. Despite everything, I possess a conscience and only hope you can overcome your grievous struggles at forging a life outside the restrictive parameters of your bedroom.Arthur Cocks wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 5:18 pm I actually haven’t got a clue what you are on about. Seemingly Bertie ahern of all people will soon to be silenced/attacked by leftists here or labeled far right, for pointing out obvious flaws with building an economy entirely reliant on a transient tax system, with no connection here

There is no company within Ireland with the capability to build a nuclear power plant, nor to oversee one to ensure safety.
What is he smoking? He thinks we could build one? Heck we cannot eben manage to contract out a hospital build without creating a disaster!
Of course we now cannot allow any Russian company to build one either!
I was dead set against such a power station when it was last proposed (in Carnsore IIRC?) but design and control systems have moved on a lot since then.
Now if properly and fully presented I believe such a power station could be considered again, or at minimum discussed with both pros and cons investigated including waste disposal or even re-use.
It must be obvious to most by now that windmills are a drain on the economy, requiring huge subs and also are mostly non recyclable requiring disposal of huge amounts of waste. They are inefficient and costly even though we have lots of wind coming in from the West.
Of course we could always build a new cleaner burning fossil fuel power station ...... but ...
Re: Are the wheels about to come off the wagon
We cant dispose of household waste properly, let alone nuclear waste. Oh hang on, i forgot we can feck it into the most nuclear waste polluted see in the world, care of Sellafield, The Irish Sea.
Re: Are the wheels about to come off the wagon
Theres a reason the Irish eastern seaboard has historically the highest cancer rates in the world.....the establishment here want in on the action
They can't even manage to build a bike shelter without blowing extortionate amount of money, and BAM is to contacted them for another bailout on an second infrastructure project (river bridge in Waterford city pile driving failures)....but trying to keep under wraps and out of media coverage

Look anyone with a modicum of active brain cells knows that the only way you can generate all the power necessary for all the electrification of transport, and all the little things that people don't think about like garden and forestry tools which currently are overwhelmingly two strokes, is to go nuclear.
Nuclear is cleaner with way less emissions than any of the fossil fuels and is reliable unlike wind, solar, etc.
Granted it does create a little thing called nuclear waste that has very severe health affects on anything living and it has an annoyingly long half life for this danger to decay.
But as others have said, we can't build a bike shed never mind a hospital without making a pigs mickie out of it, so building a functioning stable nuclear power plant scares the living shyte out of me.
Anyway onto more recent events, one has to ask if promotion within Fine Gael these days is inversely proportional to ability and actual real life experience.
Not alone is the leader a simpleton that never held a proper job or finished anything in his life, the now deputy leader is the greatest failure of a halfwit that has probably seen high ministerial office.
Any we have the audacity to poke fun at the yanks of the Brits.

Establishment here can spend hundreds of millions of tax money in a failed effort to get apple out of paying tax, throw billions at the public and vanity projects to buy an election...but won't provide school places for children or attempt to bring a housing disaster under control.....what a fúcking shithole of a country
We've endless money to funnel to the 1% in an direct provision scam, but not able to provide school places for kids, how have they got their priorities so wrong?

If this country is such a shitehole which you seem to clearly hate living in, then you have the option to leave. You could also try to actively change things. But I suspect you'll just spend your time airing your grievances on a chat shite that practically has tumbleweed coming out of it.Setanta wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 11:16 am https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/tot ... 86328.html

Aye,how can we help change things in a state (which i do some things)that actively silences dissent and retains a special court for a war a quarter of a century over to round up political undesirables.....I don't think wanting children to be able to attend schools,is a grievance, its a pretty fúcking basic expectation of a country and nooone should be shouted down for pointing this out

The Free State ended in 1937. I think we can both agree that was a long time ago. But hey, if it still exists in your head. Can you provide examples of A: How the state actively silences dissent. A Is it true, the day after the monk announced plans to run for the dail, his house was raided?

In terms of A. The AGS have been investigating the Monk for quite some time. In terms of B. So you can't name a single person.

I can name several close relatives who've been held for years on false charges through SCC...but I've no interest in doxing myself to anyone who shouts down people saying children should have places in school....but then again,I don't blindly support every policy designed to beat ordinary people down and run the country into the ground, because I'm not a political extremist....imagine thinking it's appropriate to demand people leave the country for suggesting children should have school places....what a shithole ideology is being imposed by our rulers here

We'll agree to disagree on The Monk. So if you have relatives who have been tried and convicted by the SCC we're then talking about either Terrorist or Gangland offences. That's me out. Meanwhile on planet eire,it's somehow acceptable that our government deosnt enact laws based on words of US ambassador.....the diplomatic result of refusing to build a domestic economy, and running country for benefit of mega corporations....
means we now have to get pre approval from US ambassador before enacting laws here.....it's long since time, the establishment was fucked out and people installed to act in irelands interest

The excessive reliance on FDI leaves Ireland particularly vulnerable to global shockwaves, particularly if Trump pulls the plug on a whim.
