Although not all the details have been revealed, the consensus is that this will go down as the People's Budget. And one that will live on in the hearts and minds for many generations. I firmly expect, that come the next Election, FF & FG will be returned to power not only comfortably but with the gratitude of Gael.

John and Joanne Taxpayer know that everything isn’t perfect in this country, but that we are doing well on many things. They also want stability and FG and FF offer that. They don’t believe the stupid nonsense of the far-right and the far-left. They won’t want Mary Lou either it seems.

I have said this ad infinitum at this stage and I have of course been labelled a naysayer in some parts much like those that warned about the old property bubble.
When we have a major downturn, and it is not an if as we are totally at mercy of consumer markets and whims of other states and major multinationals, the cutbacks in public spending necessary will make those after the financial crash look minor.

It is then that all the freeloaders and the increased spending will come home to roost.

And it is then that Paddy the former taxpayer will find they are at the end of the queue, behind the lads from Africa/Middle East/Central Asia/Georgia/Albania and the cowards from Ukraine.

Then like every other instance in history you will get real social collapse and the rise of political movements that will take the country in a whole different direction.

Ireland is not some unique specimen of a country no matter how much some may think of it.
We are just always late to the party.

The lack of knowledge of history, and the abandonment of it's teaching in (Ireland especially), means we are doomed to repeat it.

What is really amazing about modular homes is the BER rating outcome. It was envisaged that the modular units were to be A2, but the outcome was a C2 rating I read on the net. How can we predict an A2 rating using known materials with current u values available, and end up with C2. Heads need to roll here, and accountability enforced in order to protect the tax payers money. But we all know that wont happen. Its like a repeat of the voting computers that were purchased and found to not be fit for purpose , and then put into storage in units owned by government officials , and make them millionaires.
