Flatley for President

So Michael Flatley has indicated that he will be seeking a nomination to run in the upcoming presidential election. I think he'd be an interesting candidate, certainly a breath of fresh air from the politicians and poets. If he does get a nomination I could see myself voting for him, depending on the nature of any dirt that's dug up and thrown at him. Personable, a good talker, has the cultural aspect nailed down with the dancing and flute, well known around the world, would go down well with the diaspora, right age and energetic. Lots of things to like.
But I noted a certain amount of knives being drawn even yesterday. The state broadcaster announcing this on lunchtime news took pains to emphasis his 'MANSION' several times in the report. Later I noticed the story quite prominently on some UK news sites but when I looked up rte.ie, it was buried as a foot note to a load of palaver about the FG and SD candidates and others.
I could see both FG and SD trying to scupper Flatley's attempt to get nominated. As he'd be a serious threat to their anodyne candidates.
But what of FF and SF? It'd be a handy way out for one or other to offer to support his nomination 'on the basis of democracy' whilst not funding or getting behind it as a party.
