Even in normal times cliff collapses and landslides are pretty common in the canaries

Many of the roads at risk of rockfall have protection e.g. ( above road on left hand side )

My RPSI cousin tells me that there were no railways* in The Canaries so its probably not your cup of tea over there :D

* - I dont think he is totally correct about that. I'm pretty certain that there were some 'captive' narrow gauge tracks ( a bit like how Guinness had their train )

Here are a couple of yokes that clutter up ** the pavements of Santa Cruz

** - If this is 'cluttering up' then we could do with some of it here

Volcano firing on all cylinders at the moment. Check any of the live feeds. It's spectacular, frightening, loud and dangerous. Hundreds of homes destroyed. Why are people allowed to build homes on the side of a volcano? Just doesn't make sense!

The lava stream on La Palma has now reached the sea, cutting off the main coastal road in the area. And with recent significant activity in the area who would want to be on that island at this time?

Still firing on all cylinders tonight. There’s just no stopping this! And how anyone could live even close to this with the noise it’s making! It’s like a battle going on up in the hills!

I find it quite a soothing sound - a sort of white noise. Might be different if I was there on the ground, though! Some of the noisier noise at the moment is actually due to strong gusts of wind hitting the microphones, nothing to do with the volcano.

Some drone footage of the devastated area taken today, with a nice piece of Palma real estate developing from the lava flow into the sea!!:

Its getting complicated up there tonight! The recent second vent to the left has closed off but a new vent has appeared beneath the large uppermost one. Its all happening!

More fireworks tonight. New fissure open to the left. Slot of material being flung into the air. Great way of killing the phone battery for the evening :)

I wonder how much distance is there between the top vent and the one in the centre of the live cam?

Wouldn't say there's too much distance between them. There was a small vent between them last night but don't see it now.

A lot of extrusion from the top vent seems to be falling into the one below - gradually filling it in?

There looks to be a very small vent to the left of the lower one developing. Wonder is it the same one I saw last night.

Top one seems to be getting more intense. Or maybe I'm gawking at it too long ha
