"The hate speech legislation, intended to penalise abusive or threatening communication that targeted a person due to their race, nationality, ethnicity, gender, disability, religion or sexual orientation, has been the subject of protest by far-right agitators and conspiracy theorists."

Yeah everything not in tune with their woke crapology is far right and conspiracies.
Always suspected, and was discussing this with mates at a stag a few weeks ago,it was played in large part by establishment to stop people from singing republican ballads, with establishment leveraging culture wars,to try silence them

Quite how SF walked emselves into an obvious trap was beyond me

SF were always idiots.
It used to be their economic policies, but laterally it has turned out that is the least of their problems.

There social contract with most of their voters in the Republic, the working classes and some rural, has been torn to shreds in the way they have not alone abandoned them in favour of foreigners, but also actually shown their utter contempt for them.

And the fact that they even complained and promised to rerun failed referenda only just copper fastened their poor standing amongst the communities they claimed to serve.

The leadership and most if not all of their representatives just can't seem to read the room.
Anyone that can has left and the loss of someone like Carol Nolan is criminal.

They have shot themselves in both feet without any prompting from the established parties.

I think there good to speak out for the ordinary person, even at deepest part of last recession, they were only people to speak out for poor and unemployed, and even used their retired wing to help some people struck down in terrible situations (likes of alan ryan etc have been a huge loss to this country).....and only party that openly aspires to bring home our own, emigrants, who've been forced out by establishment mismanagement and ruinous corrupt policies

I would think they've gone forever too left, and establishment in meeting with mega corporation's in recent times,we need people to stand up to them and for ordinary people, not another free stater, big shot only party

The gaurds are unable to tackle serious crime,so the Garda commissioner and minister for justice, throws towel in against it and decide instead to devote resources to searching people's cars and homes for turf
