It's a terrible story. The gunmen shot so many times, in a place where there was lots of young children, hit a couple of other cars. The police officer was with his young son. I wonder if it is drug gang related.

Although Mary Lou McDonald says this
"I don't give a tuppence if there is a supposed political rationale for this," she said.
So maybe it was related to Detective Caldwell's high profile investigations.

Afaik Omagh and Tyrone would have a strong dissident presence.....several houses in Strabane raided last night

Wouldn't be a fan of this supporting Psni, and certainly feel they as an organisation have serious qs to answer.....but don't feel it warrants paramilitaries returning to war or.that killing em will achieve much in present political climate either, not with summer coming and enough discontent around

Well, the Soc Dems are getting a new leader. The shared model didn't work and especially with Shorthall there as she was rabbitting on about Slainte Care and populist claptrap. It was obvious she couldn't understand the consequences of what she was saying.

Florida and it’s governor Desantis has enacted many versions of acts along the lines of ‘stop woke’ and more recently Florida house bill 999.

To stand up to this woke mind virus that took over large parts of the western world and say, “no, none of your crap anymore” is extremely refreshing and it’s the first time I’ve seen a force push back against it. Best of luck to them.

“ House Bill 999 would ban any funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at Florida state universities, even if they’re privately funded”

Absolutely mad stuff about South Africa. I had no idea. The country is said to be in collapse. Power grid is barely functioning. Organised looting and destruction of infrastructure ongoing. Insane food and medicine prices. Rapes, murders, burglaries, civil unrest almost akin to civil war. Crazy article.

They've unfortunately gone the way of every other 'independent' African country. Inevitably, they'll return to tribal rules ultimately led by a strongman dictator. This was a guaranteed result once they removed all the experienced politicians/diplomats/civil servants. Anyone white or 'coloured' would be well advised to plan their departure. Compulsory land reclamation will be next which will completely destroy the nation's ability to feed itself.

It's a beautiful country. Such a shame. Though there's been a horrendous level of violence there for years. But if the power grid fails it could be hell on earth. Depressing.

Yep, Zimbabwe Mark 2. Although it wasn't always confined to independent African countries, some of our own smart boys tried the same carry-on in the 1920s, until wiser counsel took hold.

Yep, along with Angola, Congo, Sudan, etc etc. They'll very quickly lose their high score for democracy based on this rating from 2022:

This is where all this equity gets you. “We’ll just make things fairer for everyone” yeah, right…. More like you’ll annihilate personal ambition will lead to the collapse of society itself.

Trying to make a story out of nothing....

Either himself or the ontheditch are lying 🤔......I'm certainly old enough to know better, than take a politician at their word

He'd want to be telling whole truth whenever he makes a statement to the dail, these issues tend to drag on drip-by-drip when the politicians try and bluff their way outta it

I love the way they say he may not be able to tell the story this week, probably next week. After so many years, what changes in a week?

How is this settlement justified,

the judge used this lads membership of a dissident organisation,to justify no compensation for an incident which occured when he was 13,despite both sides acknowledging he wasnt intended target of the rubber bullet

Evidence emerging that this work of loyalists, potentially linked to protocol

4 republican a released today,4 protestants lifted today, including ex loyalist prisoner....the getaway car was brought in UDA stronghold of ballyclare, stored in loyalist area Belfast for a bit,NIRA "admission" glued onto wall,as opposed it's normal method of accepting responsibility via phonecall (usually they wait weeks too)

Something not making sense here (this is perhaps worthy of a thread of its own)

Oh shock, he used the rules that applied at the time.....

Sure a "neighbour" tried to get planning here in a A3 zoned area. Well, former neighbour. She fudged the address by making up a new townland to say that's where she was from when she lived 25km away......

Was he not caught out lying on his application??

Your neighbour is prime example of why lack of ethics in establishment causes social rot.....this bloke, and rest of em lying on applications, makes critism of your neighbour pointless.....the big shots ruling the country are free to blaggard the rules, why wouldn't everyone else?

Ethically speaking, his position is simply untenable IMO..,...if you ever want to effect proper change, you must decapitate (figuratively) the tradional establishment and let newer blood into run the country....older generations are mostly ruined by poor ethics, younger folk the likes of Holly cairns are needed to effect change....in both political and civil service
