Christmas Movies, Music etc....
Self explanatory thread title and this is one of my favourites from way, way back.

This one was part of Christmas Day ritual every year at my in-laws and best watched with drink onboard.

No Christmas would be complete without Raymond Briggs' "The Snowman". Despite it being released as recently as 1982, it feels like it has been around forever. Another pulse checker - i.e. if it doesn't make feel emotional check to see if you have one.

Top Of The Pops on Christmas Day was always looked forward to.
Was always happy to receive music for Christmas - from 1982 onwards, always got a couple of LPs and money / gift tokens to buy more in the post-festive sales. Raiders Of The Pop Charts purchased at the end of December 1982 was a favourite - https://apopfansdream.wordpress.com/201 ... onco-1982/

I think I've seen Kelly's Heroes about 20 times now but will watch it again if its on over the Christmas. I love the soundtrack music.
Re: Christmas Movies, Music etc....
I'm not a big fan of Christmas, the commercialism and false bonhomie piss me off big time but the "must watch" film in our house has for years, been "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". Not a dead body, arse, tit or any other item of naked anatomy in sight, just an old fashioned, rollicking, if not exactly PC, musical. Good fun from start to finish with a top cast, for the time, and a great score.
It gets trotted out every year, even now with the youngest in their mid thirties. The grandkids lap it up too.

Re: Christmas Movies, Music etc....
That's such a classic anti-war film. It's also on my watch list for when I need a little pick-me-up (along with Monty Python).
The one thing I do like about that film is that the Germans speak German to each other rather than German accented English like a lot of other Hollywood war films.

You never heard of Christmas FM?? It's only been going since 2008. It is definitely the most popular temporary licensed station ever in Ireland, and probably the longest running too.Norman Breaks wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 3:49 pm Don't know what a Christmas FM is, beside I have in on vinyl so I'm good.
