Ireland's Worst Tourist Attractions

#1

Post by Del.Monte »

Heard Fiona Looney on about this on Newstalk this morning - and she named the Guinness Storehouse and the Titanic Experience as two of the worst. I can't disagree but the dreadful "Corlea Trackway" is head and shoulders above the rest. A Charlie Haughey endorsed project dumped in the middle of a bog in Longford it defies description in its woefulness. As a tourist attraction it has been a compete failure and don't for one second believe the reviews on TripAdvisor - they must have been written by OPW employees. Even the OPW's own stats show this: https://assets.gov.ie/40052/ca04bdaeb1e ... 08e674.pdf - just 7,775 visitors in 2018 and you can be sure that most of them were bored kids on school tours.

As for the Guinness Storehouse - what a load of overpriced rubbish and if I wanted to give a visitor a Dublin Guinness experience I would bring them to Kehoe's (South Anne Street) or Grogan's (South William Street).

Your suggestions?

EPIC, The Irish Emigration 'Museum' - https://epicchq.com/

€16 admission - SIXTEEN EURO!!!

All it is is room after room of video screens on loop. You could get the very same experience sitting in your car in the carpark looking at your phone. Utter shite. If you grew up in Ireland and already came through the Irish education system then you'll learn nothing. It's only for visitors.

And.... claims to be the best tourist attraction IN EUROPE fo…login to view the rest of this post
