7pm phonecall from neighbour: One of the cattle is after putting his head through the crush gate and broke the oak post holding up the crush gate. Are you around tomorrow and we'll try and do a temporary job on it as the vet is coming back Friday morning.

Me: Can't make it tomorrow as I'm down in Cork. I can run over to you now in tractor and I'll bring a few straps with me.

Neighbour: grand see you in 10 minutes.

Me: Belting through the fields in 4th gear turn onto the lane way leading up to yard.

2 minutes later -> Down to 1st gear stuck behind a Hen Pheasant and her offspring who refuse to run into the banks but instead decide to walk in front of tractor for 150 or so metres before deciding to go back into corn field.

Neighbour: I was going to ring you to see where you were.

Me: Don't ask.

Spell check on my phone is really starting to do my head in. When I type "the" it comes out as "tge". I'm not sure if my fingers have gotten bigger or the Chinese lads who wrote the software are trying to make me go postal.

Delays in getting materials.

I was told about 8 weeks lead time for one part. I accepted that as we've a few weeks work when the part comes in and we "should" meet our tight timelines. Found out today that it's now about 20 weeks out. That's the timelines out the window.

What's worse is that we are doing this work to get extra capacity. The original two machines are offline due to "part delays".

I'm going to have an extra biscuit (or maybe a full packet) to drown the pain in sugar.....

I've been handling the choice and commissioning of some equipment for my on-off workplace in Alsace. It's coming from China, and after being delayed due to the Shanghai lockdown, has now been delivered to the departure port ... but according to my contact, the ship it was supposed to have been loaded onto last week is still waiting at anchor in the bay. Twice the revised loading date has been missed. For something that was intended to be put into service mid-July, I wouldn't be surprised if ends up being September or October before it's ready for use.

Was funny looking at the mother standing firm as the wheel was coming towards her and she wouldn't move until the pullet was a few feet away, then she would move forward.

Things are back to normal, pre covid for my local Chipper, on a weekday evening at 6pm: a herd of people young and old inside and outside the premises waiting for their order: I queued like this once or twice in the crowd, but you wait a long long time. And then, eh who ordered the spice burger and cheeseburger, you?.....you??

Bats ?

I haven't see a bat so fat this year flying around my house and its actually p1ssing me off. I suspect my neighbour's hedge cutting operation with a flipping digger has taken out their roost that was probably there for decades. Clowns.

 My thoughts.

We had a bat years ago in our back shed. My mam was in heaven because she loved little creatures and a bat would have been rather exotic for us.
A shame that anyone would disturb their homes.

I've put my irritations in to a poem 🤭

It's only night time when they come
Pesky thoughts that aren't much fun
What's that whooshing in your ear
Now you've a headache next comes the fear
A myriad of illnesses each as dreadful as the other even sleep is troubling so I just won't bother.

But Wait!!

What's that I see. Logic and common sense are not far from me. There there Diamonds do not worry. It's the thief of joy and you'll truly be sorry; that you wasted such time on what's likely tinnitus. Now drink your herbal teeeeen-itus.

😁

People who walk around talking into their phone as an extension of their chin. What's the deal with that? Is it some famous movie character I haven't seen?

Apologies to anyone who does this and there is some logic attached. Just seems odd to me.

No explanation here Ncd, but in Germany they now have warning signs to watch out for these people.

I have an MRI coming up Nc. My doctor thinks that it may be tinnitus but she isn't certain. She does seem certain that it isn't anything serious however. Life in the auld girl yet 😆

I do hope you don't have to wear 'office attire' PS. It's awful hot. I stood in the back for a minute just to see and I'm back inside now to hide.

Some of my colleagues arrived into work with (quite nice) summer dresses. As a result, they were not allowed into the lab. That was clever of them. The annoying thing is that if I wore one (as an overweight male), I'd be dragged to HR. The result was I had to do their work as well as mine.....

I'm pretty sure that if you wore a summer dress and said that your new pronouns were she/her, HR would be so frozen with panic they'd bend over backwards to accommodate you

You've all heard of the 20foot rule. For me, it's more of the 20 mile rule if I went dressed that way...

Why is it that on a day where I have things to do I'm tired and want to stay in bed.

Asked by the operator of an MRI what radio station I would like on during my MRI. I said Lyric FM. Big Mistake as I forgot Marty Whelan is on Lyric in the mornings. Apart from that it was a nice half hour of relaxation. Some of the noises out of the MRI lined up perfectly rhythmically with one of the songs

Edit, I wonder is Liveline banned from the list of things you can listen to in the MRI machine. You'd slowly think your in a coffin listening to Duffy I'd say.
