Going to be honest. Always thought their studio albums were a bit patchy quality wise. But Live & Dangerous is genuine classic. One of my favouritesnlgbbbblth wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:39 pm Thin Lizzy - Live & Dangerous (Super Deluxe Edition)

Not having climbed an alp (or similar sized hill) for ages, I'm allowing the music to transport me there this evening. This is an Austrian/Tirolean "neo trad" group.

I'll be drowning in Horslips next week as More Than You Chew has finally shipped - nearly one year after being announced
But for tonight, it's Saint Etienne's wonderful debut Foxbase Alpha.

Ren is rather good. He suffered fron undiagnosed Lymes disease which destroyed him. He finally got and is currently getting treatment in Canada.

God, I'd completely forgotten about them despite them being from my era! I had to go trawling to find something by them that I could remember and this is it - not bad but not nearly heavy enough for me - back then.

Since we're back in the early Seventies again my mind drifted back to the Electric Light Orchestra and this tune, the first track on their first album and about the third single that I ever bought. Still a classic, from a time before ELO became mainstream and mega. Great stuff!

Terry Kath was constantly frustrated with trying to make the 'Chicago sound' even 'heavier'. Similar in comparison to the situation Joe Walsh of The Eagles found himself in (Walsh hated Don Henley's constant mantra of "writing songs to make the young girls cry"). Kath likewise was trying to fight against the grain of the sound his band Chicago was going in.
Being an extremely talented singer, songwriter and guitarist, even Jimi Hendrix was so impressed with Kath's playing, he took Chicago on tour with him, and also once described Terry Kath as "The Best Guitarist In The Universe". Then again . . Hendrix was always saying similar things about every other guitarist he encountered.
Kath had his issues with substance abuse, and accidentally shot himself in the head while playing with a loaded gun.
