You hear the Yanks harping on about "so & so is a national treasure". We, in Ireland, are a crowd of begrudgers, to be sure, but is there anyone, past or present, who has managed to escape our collective ire and landed themselves firmly in the 'national treasure' genre?
Some that come to mind for me might be-
Gay Byrne
Jack Charlton
Graham Norton
Perhaps posthumously - Sinead O Conner

Re: "National Treasure"
I've never bought into the nonsense of 'National Treasure.' They are simply people with a job/profession in the public eye who do it well
