Politics.ie has also gone offline
The owner (who some people say might actually have died) forgot to renew the domain .
Re: Politics.ie has also gone offline
Well that seems like quite the oversight (unless he has actually died of course) - I suspected something was wrong over there, as I tried to register for it a while ago (had an account there years ago but have forgotten my username) and never got approved - apparently a few other former boards posters had the same experience.

No great loss tbh. It was interesting to visit about 15 years ago, but the last time I went for a look it was about 20 angry malcontents arguing with each other. Total waste of time. The impact of the internet on some middle-aged men would want to be studied.

With boards looking like it's on life support 2025 could be the year for this kind of thing.
Social media platforms rule the roost now with people only interacting with like minded individuals. Surely a turn for the worse.

Ah, bugger, sorry to hear that - if he's died, that is.
It went down a couple of months ago but came back up, so I suspected somebody had kicked the jar over.

Remember when they put that deviant loon Cyberianpan in charge? It almost ended the site
Re: Politics.ie has also gone offline
It's a shame that it was just allowed die like this, even though like all traditional forums it was nowhere as active as 10/20 years ago, It was still ticking over
Re: Politics.ie has also gone offline
Where have all or a lot of the former Politics.ie posters gone i.e. to what forums?
I only heard of this forum GUBU.ie in the last day or two.

Re: GUBU.ie
Sorry, I posted on another thread here yesterday that this site GUBU.ie is a new site. From a search I see that the site is going since, I think, 2021 - sorry.

Bannable offence. Sorry to see you go.
Only joking! There are a lot of new members recently along with yourself so it’s been a lot busier around here. Hopefully the momentum can continue to grow. Welcome and good luck out there.

Thanks! (My "like" of your post is not displaying publicly for some reason).knownunknown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 2:20 pm Bannable offence. Sorry to see you go.

While not 100% or maybe even 75% I think that Politics.ie descended into being a toilet - particularly in the last year or 2 over immigration but I think that it was always bad.
I would welcome any site that is moderate / more moderate and that has decent readership and engagement.
I am not going to post on this site GUBU.ie much IF there is not decent readership and engagement.
It may be a Politics.ie legacy to me but I am skeptical as to whether chat forums number of "Guest" readers in the last hour is true. I will give GUBU the benefit of the doubt although I don't know who owns and runs the site.
Re: Politics.ie has also gone offline
I was a member there. I'm also friends of one of the moderators. They have no idea what happened either.

Welcome to GUBU, thanks for signing up. join in, start threads, particularly on domestic politics, and if we're lucky DJP might engage!
Re: Politics.ie has also gone offline
I don't to be fair think of myself that highly. But on a more serious note I have posted on other forums before where there was little traffic and the sites seemed a bit tedious to me - so far I do not have that impression about this site.

I think I know you, you are the guy who has a radio show on Dublin community radio?
